To preserve the integrity of the original wood pattern, dust along the wood's grain. Any soft cloth can be used to dust your furniture, but microfiber cloths work best at capturing dirt. To prevent the cloth from re-depositing dust on the surface, fold it frequently. Don't use spray polish. Use the same kind of polish every time you clean your wooden furniture. Your wood finish may appear foggy or streaked if you use an oil-based polish instead of a wax-based polish. Use only cleaning agents that are intended for the finish that was applied to the specific piece of wood. After cleaning your wood with a wet cloth that has been dampened, quickly rinse and dry the surface.
