Runyon's custom furniture process begins with a complimentary design consultation, in-store, in-home, or virtual, where a design expert works with you one-on-one to define every detail of your piece: dimensions, leathers, fabrics, wood finishes, and hardware. Once the design is approved and all materials confirmed, your piece enters production, where skilled artisans handcraft it from scratch in the USA. After a thorough pre-shipment quality inspection, it's delivered to your home with full white-glove service, placed, assembled, and ready to enjoy.

Every piece begins with a conversation. We offer complimentary consultations in-store, in-home, or virtually. One of our design experts gets to know you, your space, and your vision, then works one-on-one with you to define the piece: frames, leathers, fabrics, finishes, and every detail in between.
Step 02
Material Selection & Design Approval
Swatches, sketches, and schematics are all part of the process. Before a single cut is made, every material decision is approved by you, whether you're browsing our showroom in person or reviewing selections remotely with mailed swatches. No two design plans are ever quite the same, because every step is built around you.
Step 03
Handcrafted Production Begins
Once the design is approved, your order moves into production. Skilled artisans handcraft each piece using premium, carefully sourced materials — solid hardwood frames, genuine leathers, and hand-finished surfaces, with careful attention to every detail. Your piece is built from scratch, for you specifically.
Step 04
Pre-Shipment Quality Inspection
When production is complete, the piece comes to Runyon's for a thorough inspection before it ever reaches your door. Our receiving team examines every element — frame construction, stitching, leather quality, wood finish, and overall design — ensuring it meets the standard every Runyon's piece is held to.
Step 05
White-Glove Delivery & In-Home Placement
Once approved, our team contacts you to schedule delivery at a time that works for you. We handle everything: careful wrapping, transport, in-home placement, assembly if needed, and full packaging removal. Production Timeline
How Long Does Custom Furniture Take?
The timeline depends on the level of customization, the materials selected, and the complexity of the design. Your exact lead time is confirmed at design approval. Never a surprise.
Standard Custom Build
For a standard custom piece: your choice of leather, fabric, finish, and dimensions, built on a proven frame. Plus approximately 2 weeks for white-glove delivery to your door.
Complex Custom Build
For pieces with specialized dimensions, exotic materials, intricate woodwork, or unique design features. Additional time ensures every detail meets the Runyon's standard. Plus approximately 2 weeks for delivery.

Genuine full-grain and top-grain leathers sourced from premier tanneries in Italy and Brazil. Every hide is hand-selected for natural texture, structural integrity, and character — deepening in patina and beauty with every year of use. Sustainably Sourced American Hardwoods

Every Material Approved by You, First
In-store customers browse our full selection of swatches, samples, finishes, and hardware in person. Remote customers receive mailed swatches. A full schematic of your piece is produced showing exactly how every element comes together, and you approve the final design before production begins.

Dimensions & Sizing
We've extended sofa depths by 4–6 inches for taller individuals, lengthened overall sofa sizes for large living spaces, and modified recliners with wider seat widths and longer footrests. We build for how you actually live.
Leather & Hide Selection
Choose from a wide range of full-grain and top-grain leathers, hair-on cowhide, exotic options, and customer-provided hides. Select specific colors or patterns, or swap leathers seen on any piece in our collection.
Fabric & Upholstery
Fabrics, embossed leathers, fringe, suede, and printed hides — all available for upholstery. Mix and match materials across a single piece for depth, texture, and visual movement that reflects your personal style.
Wood Finish & Stain
Wood species, stain tone, and finish are all selectable. We also incorporate reclaimed wood accents and custom painted or distressed finishes, matched to your existing décor or built from scratch to your vision.
Hardware & Nailhead Trim
From brass nailhead trim to custom hardware finishes, these finishing details define the character of a piece. We've built refined brass-accented pieces and raw iron hardware builds for a true working ranch aesthetic.
Dining Table Sizing
Dining tables are frequently extended to seat 12–16, narrowed for tighter dining rooms, or adjusted in height. Custom table builds can be paired with custom seating for a fully cohesive dining environment.
What Cannot Be Customized
Runyon's does not offer furniture restoration. Some of our more complex frame designs, including specific arm profiles, leg designs, and overall silhouette shapes, cannot be altered structurally. Our design team will advise on what is and isn't possible for any specific piece before you commit.

Every Runyon's project is unique, because every client, every space, and every vision is different. Here are three that illustrate the level of customization and craftsmanship behind every piece we build.
A standout example of customization is the Cowboy Channel Bar, where Runyon's designed a fully custom bar seating experience tailored to a Western lifestyle setting. Every barstool was built specifically for the space, combining durability and refined design for a high-traffic commercial environment.
We used premium leathers selected to withstand everyday use while aging beautifully over time. To bring in Western character, we incorporated cowhide and crocodile accents, along with yoke-style detailing on the backs of select stools. Brass nailhead trim added a refined finish, and each stool was built with a 360-degree swivel for full bar functionality.
Every detail was intentional — creating comfortable, high-quality seating that elevates the space beyond a typical bar. The result is a refined, Western-inspired environment designed specifically for gathering, watching rodeo, and experiencing the Cowboy Channel brand.
Runyon's design for the Cowgirl Channel Studio was rooted in creating an environment that authentically reflects the spirit of women's Western culture, where sport, fashion, and lifestyle intersect. Rather than approaching the space as a traditional broadcast studio, the design was developed as an immersive atmosphere that embodies the identity of the network itself.
Material selection focused on textures and finishes that directly reference women's Western fashion and heritage. Pink, turquoise, and cream leathers were blended throughout the space to create a balance of boldness and softness, layered with fringe, suede, floral-embossed leather, and printed hides to bring in depth, texture, and visual movement.
Each detail was intentionally pulled from cowgirl culture: fashion, history, and everyday lifestyle, translated directly into the design of the pieces. Every piece was finished with the Cowgirl Channel logo branded directly into the leather, tying the entire space back to the identity of the network.
A great example of the level of personalization we offer is a client who worked with us to furnish two completely different homes: a modern residence and a Western ranch. Despite the contrast in styles, our design team was able to guide her through both projects, showing how fully customizable each piece can be to fit a specific vision.
For the ranch home, she wanted a space that felt authentic to Western living while still reflecting her personal style. She worked closely with our designer to select every detail, from leather and fabric combinations to finishes and textures for each room. Every piece was thoughtfully paired with case goods to create a cohesive look throughout the home. We incorporated rich leathers, custom fabrics, embossed leather, detailed stitching, nailhead accents, and reclaimed wood. Each room became its own custom project, layering these elements to build a warm, lived-in Western aesthetic that still felt elevated and personal.
What makes this project stand out is how deeply the design was tailored to the client. Every decision was based on her preferences: what she liked, how she lived, and the feeling she wanted each space to have. That level of customization allows us to create interiors that don't just fit a style, but truly reflect the personality and lifestyle of the person living in them.
